Best Sales Prospecting Tools in 2026: 15 Tools by Job (Find, Enrich, Time, Reach)
15 sales prospecting tools for 2026 sorted by job (find, enrich, time, reach), with verified prices, where they overlap, and what a full stack costs per rep.
TL;DR: The best sales prospecting tools do one of four jobs: find the person, fill in their contact data, decide who deserves a message this week, and send it. Apollo covers three of the four from $49 a seat. ZoomInfo and Cognism own direct dials at $32,000 to $33,500 a year on contract. Clay and Hunter handle enrichment from $34 a month. Instantly, Smartlead, lemlist and Outreach send, from $37 a month to $160 a seat. The timing job is the one most stacks skip, and it runs from $99 a month to $33,000 a year depending on how you fill it. Below: all 15 priced, where they overlap, and what a full stack costs for one, three and ten reps.
Salesforce asked 4,050 sales professionals how they spend the week. The answer, in the State of Sales 2026 report, was 40% selling and almost a full day on prospecting. Then 48% of the same reps said they lack the bandwidth for adequate cold outreach. A day a week, and still not enough, because most of that day goes to research that could take minutes.
You've felt that. The list is built, the sequence is loaded, the dialer is warm, and the pipeline still looks like last quarter. Buying another tool doesn't fix it, because most teams already own two tools for the same job and none for the job that matters.
This guide sorts 15 sales prospecting tools by the job each one does, prices every one of them with a date on the check, and then does the thing no other list on this page does: adds the stack up for three team sizes and shows which tool to drop. We build one of the 15, in the timing section. We say so there and keep it out of the rest.
What Are Sales Prospecting Tools?
Sales prospecting tools are software that helps a rep find people who match the ideal customer profile, obtain their email and phone, decide which of them to contact now, and send the first message. Most products do one or two of those four jobs well. No single tool does all four, including the ones that claim to.
The four jobs, in the order a rep hits them:
- Find. Turn an ICP into a list of named people. Databases, LinkedIn, and anything with a filter.
- Enrich. Attach a working email and a direct dial to each name. Waterfalls, verifiers, extensions.
- Time. Decide which 5% of the list to contact this week, and why. Signals, visitors, job changes.
- Reach. Send the message and manage the follow-ups. Email sequencers, LinkedIn tools, enterprise engagement platforms.
The order matters. Find before enrich is obvious. Time before reach is the step most teams skip, and skipping it is why the median cold email reply rate is 0.74% while the average is 3.43%. The teams at the average are not sending better emails. They're sending to a shorter list.
The 15 Best Sales Prospecting Tools in 2026 at a Glance
Prices are per user per month unless noted and were checked on 8 October 2026 against vendor pricing pages or, where a vendor publishes nothing, Vendr's purchase data. Annual-billing figures are given where the discount changes the decision.

One row is ours. Getcleed appears once in the table, once in the timing section, and once in the AI section, and in each place we say what it doesn't do.
How We Chose These Sales Prospecting Tools
Four rules, applied to about 40 candidates.
- One named job, done well. Every tool above maps to find, enrich, time or reach. We dropped HubSpot Sales Hub and Pipedrive because they're CRMs with a prospecting tab, and 6sense and Demandbase because they're ABM platforms at $55,000 a year and up.
- A real price or an honest substitute. Twelve of 15 publish one. For ZoomInfo, Cognism and Outreach we used Vendr medians from more than 150 purchases each and say so in the card.
- The trade-off is a fact, not an adjective. "Fewer phones" comes with the test that found it. "Annual only" comes from the vendor's own terms page.
- No self-ranking. Nine of the ten pages ranking for this query are written by a vendor that puts itself first. We put ours eleventh in the table, under the job it does, and disclose it three times.
We didn't weight G2 stars, integration counts or interface polish. A 14-day trial tells you more about those than we can. For the bigger architecture question, signal-based platforms versus database tools, the pillar guide covers what each side costs at five seats.
Priya runs a four-person design agency in Lisbon and sells to Series A marketing leads. In January 2026 she was paying Apollo Basic at $49, Instantly Hypergrowth with its lead database add-on at about $140, and Lusha Starter at $49.90. Three tools, $239 a month, and all three were doing the find job. She cancelled Instantly's database and Lusha in March, kept Apollo for finding and Instantly Growth for sending, and spent the $130 difference on the one job none of them did. Her reply rate went from 1.1% to 4.3% by June on a third of the volume.
Already paying for two tools that find the same people? Run a free signal check on your current list before you buy a third. If fewer than 5% of your contacts show a buying signal this week, the list was never the problem.
Sales Prospecting Tools for Finding People
If the job is turning an ICP into named humans, these five do it. The B2B data providers hub compares 12 of them in depth. These are the five most teams shortlist.
Apollo.io
Apollo is the default first tool for a reason. The pricing page lists 240 million contacts, a free tier with unlimited email addresses and 250 sends a day, then Basic at $49, Professional at $79 and Organization at $119 a user per month on annual billing. Monthly billing is $59, $99 and $149. Organization has a three-seat minimum.
The trade-off is phones. Cleanlist's March 2026 test matched 52% of Apollo direct dials against ZoomInfo's 71%, and a separate 100-lead test put Apollo at 45%. Email accuracy was 78% to 80% in both, close enough to ZoomInfo's 84% that a verifier closes the gap for pennies. If your reps email, Apollo is enough. If they dial, read the next two cards. For teams that outgrow it, the Apollo alternatives page covers the next step.
ZoomInfo
ZoomInfo publishes no price. Vendr's median across 1,576 purchases is $33,500 a year, with a range from $7,233 to $156,053. A March 2026 quote put Professional near $14,995 plus $1,500 a seat and Advanced near $24,995 plus $2,500 a seat, with a three-seat minimum, annual terms and a 60 to 90 day written-notice window before auto-renewal.
What you get for it is 120 million human-verified direct dials, the deepest set anyone sells. If your reps make 60 calls a day, that depth is worth the contract. If they export lists, it isn't, and the ZoomInfo alternatives page maps cheaper tools to the module you use. One number to carry: ZoomInfo's net revenue retention was 89% in Q2 2026. Its existing customers are spending 11% less a year later.
Cognism
Cognism is the European answer to the same question. Vendr's median is $32,750 a year with five seats included. Third-party guides put Standard from about $12,750. Diamond Data, the phone-verified mobile set, claims 87% accuracy, and Cognism screens against do-not-call lists in 12 jurisdictions.
It's not cheaper than ZoomInfo at scale and doesn't try to be. The buy is compliance and mobiles for UK and EU calling teams. A US-only team should look elsewhere.
Lusha
Lusha is the extension-first option. Free gives 40 credits a month. Starter is $49.90 a month, Professional $69.90, Premium $399.90, with annual billing at $449.10, $629.10 and $3,599.10 a year. A phone number costs five credits, so a Starter rep gets 80 phones a month, not 400.
Lusha suits a rep who prospects one profile at a time inside LinkedIn and wants a number without leaving the page. It doesn't suit list building at volume, and the SMB tiers went up 23.5% year over year.
LinkedIn Sales Navigator
Sales Navigator finds people the databases miss, because it's the database everyone updates themselves. LinkedIn's plan page lists Core at $119.99 a month or $1,079.88 a year, Advanced at $159.99 a month or $1,799.88 a year, and Advanced Plus by quote. Note the annual discount: 25% on Core, 6% on Advanced.
It exports no emails and no phones. Every Sales Navigator list needs an enrichment step, and every saved search caps at 2,500 results. Our Sales Navigator pricing guide does the team math per tier. For teams that want the LinkedIn signal without the seat price, the alternatives page lists what else reads LinkedIn.
Sales Prospecting Tools for Enriching Contact Data
The find tools give you a name and a company. These two give you a working address.
Clay
Clay is a spreadsheet that calls 150 data providers in sequence until one returns a match. Pricing is per account, not per seat: a free tier with 500 actions and 100 credits a month, Launch from $167 a month monthly or $54 a month annual, Growth from $446 monthly or $185 annual, Enterprise by quote. Data credits sit on top of the plan, and the gap between Launch monthly and annual is larger than the stated discount, so check the page before you budget.
Since 1 September 2026 Clay also sends: the Sequencer is generally available, which means Clay now covers enrich and reach. The cost is a builder. Clay rewards a person who enjoys building tables and punishes a rep who wants a list by Friday. The Clay alternatives page covers the no-builder route.
Hunter.io
Hunter does one thing: find and verify email addresses by domain. Pricing is a free tier with 25 searches a month, then Starter at $49 for 2,000 credits, Growth at $149 for 10,000 and Scale at $299 for 25,000, all monthly, with 30% off on annual billing. Every tier has unlimited users, which makes it the cheapest enrichment seat on this page for a team.
No phones, and the Campaigns feature is a light sender rather than a sequencer. For an email-only team that already has names, Hunter plus a verifier is a complete enrich layer for $34 a month.
Sales Prospecting Tools for Timing: Who to Contact This Week
This is the job most stacks skip, and the one with the widest price range. Four tools, from free to $33,000 a year, that answer a different question than the ones above: not "who exists" but "who is in-market now".
The 95-5 rule is the reason the job exists. At any moment about 5% of your market is buying. The find and enrich tools give you the full 100%. The timing tools tell you which 5%.
Leadfeeder
Leadfeeder, which was Dealfront until 24 March 2026, identifies the companies visiting your website. Lite is free. Discover starts at EUR 79 a month on annual billing, Activate runs EUR 369 to EUR 649, all per account with unlimited users.
It's the cheapest timing signal on the page if you have traffic. The limit is that it names the company, not the person, and in the EU it can't do more. A visit from a 2,000-person company tells you something happened. It doesn't tell you who to call.
Common Room
Common Room watches product usage, community activity, website visits and LinkedIn in one place. Pricing starts at Essential, $2,500 a month billed annually, which is $30,000 a year for five seats and 100,000 contacts. Advanced and Enterprise are by quote.
It's the right tool for a product-led company with a community to listen to. Two cautions. The price is enterprise. And Zoom announced it was acquiring Common Room on 2 July 2026, so ask about the roadmap before you sign a year.
UserGems
UserGems tracks one signal with great depth: a past customer or champion changing jobs. Pricing is Core at $2,750 a month, which is $33,000 a year plus a $3,000 implementation fee, Advanced at $5,750 a month, and Elite at $10,000 a month. Annual only, no trial. Vendr's median across 172 purchases is $30,250.
The job-change signal is the best-converting trigger in B2B, and UserGems is built around it with a revenue guarantee per tier. For a team with a few thousand past champions in the CRM, the math works. For a team of three, it doesn't.
Getcleed
Getcleed does the timing job at the person level on LinkedIn. You import a list, from a CSV, a Sales Navigator search, a HubSpot view or the people who engaged with a post, and it reads each person's public LinkedIn activity, scores them 0 to 100 against your ICP, tags the signals it found, and writes a hook from the specific post or comment. It rescores every night. Pricing is $129 a month monthly or $99 a month on annual, flat, with 1,000 leads analyzed and no per-seat multiplier.
It's not a database. It needs one of the five find tools above, or a list you already have. It reads 11 types of buying signal, from job changes to competitor engagement to pain-point posts, and it doesn't see website visits or product usage. If your market lives on LinkedIn, it fills the timing job for less than one Sales Navigator seat. If it doesn't, Leadfeeder or Common Room is the better fit. The Trigify alternatives page compares eight signal tools by what each one reads.
Marcus leads a three-rep team at a Denver logistics software company. In February 2026 he signed Outreach at $140 a seat on a 12-month term, about $5,000 for the year, because the reps were "wasting time in Gmail". By April the sequences were running and the reply rate was 0.9%. The problem had never been the sending. The reps had a 6,000-row Apollo export and no way to tell which 300 rows deserved a message that week. He added a signal layer in May, cut the active sequence to the 90-plus scores, and reply rate reached 5.1% by August. The Outreach contract is still running. He'd buy it second next time.
Not sure which job your stack is missing? Start a free 7-day signal check on your last export. The report tells you how many contacts showed a signal this week, which is the number every other tool on this page leaves blank.
Sales Prospecting Tools for Reaching Out
Four senders, from $37 a month to $160 a seat. Pick by volume, channel and who operates the tool.
Instantly
Instantly is the volume email sender. Growth is $47 a month or $37.60 on annual for 5,000 emails and 1,000 contacts. Hypergrowth is $97 or $77.60 annual for 100,000 emails and 25,000 contacts. Every tier includes unlimited mailboxes and warmup.
The catch is the bundle. Instantly sells its lead database, CRM and deliverability suite as separate products, and a full Hypergrowth stack lands near $210 a month on annual. Buy the sender. Skip the database if you already have a find tool.
Smartlead
Smartlead is the agency sender. Basic is $39 a month or $32.50 annual for 2,000 contacts and 6,000 sends. Pro is $94 or $78.30 annual for 30,000 contacts and 90,000 sends. Unlimited Smart and Unlimited Prime run $174 and $379 a month. Unlimited mailboxes on every tier, white-label on Pro and up.
It's built for an operator running inboxes for several clients, and the interface shows it. A rep who wants to write one email to one person will find it heavy.
lemlist
lemlist is the multichannel option. Multichannel Expert is $109 a month monthly or $87 a month annual per user, and it's the tier with LinkedIn steps. Lower tiers are email only.
The value is one sequence that mixes email, a LinkedIn visit, a connection request and a voice note. The warning is on the LinkedIn steps: any tool that automates actions inside a LinkedIn account carries restriction risk, and our LinkedIn automation tools ranking rates 14 of them on it. lemlist scores a 3 of 5.
Outreach (and Salesloft)
Outreach and Salesloft are the enterprise engagement platforms. Neither publishes a price. Vendr puts Outreach at $100 to $160 a user per month on annual commitments and Salesloft at $125 to $180, with mid-market deals of 25 to 75 users often landing at $100 to $130. Ten Outreach seats commonly cost $15,000 to $25,000 in year one. Salesloft merged with Clari in December 2025, and the products are still separate.
They earn the price when a RevOps team manages cadences across 25 or more reps and needs the reporting. Under ten seats, Instantly or lemlist does the sending job for a tenth of the cost.
AI Prospecting Tools: What "AI" Means in Each Job
Every tool on this page now has "AI" on its homepage. The term means a different thing in each job, and knowing which is the difference between buying a feature and buying a word.
- AI in finding means natural-language search over a database. Apollo's AI research and ZoomInfo's Copilot both let you type "VP sales at Series B fintech, hired in the last 90 days" and get a list. Useful. Not new intelligence, just a better filter on the same data.
- AI in enrichment means an agent that browses for the field you're missing. Clay's Claygent is the clearest example. It costs credits per row and is only as good as what's public.
- AI in timing means reading unstructured activity and deciding whether it's a signal. This is the job where a model earns its keep, because a human can't read 1,000 LinkedIn feeds a night. Getcleed's scoring, Common Room's signal detection and UserGems' job-change matching all live here.
- AI in reaching means generated first lines and sequence copy. Every sender has it. Reply rates on AI-written openers without a real signal behind them are no better than templates, because the problem was never the sentence.
The one thing no AI prospecting tool does: tell you that the person is in-market without evidence of it. An AI that writes a perfect email to someone who isn't buying has automated the 0.74%. For the full test of which AI features hold up, our best AI tools for SDRs review covers it.
Where Sales Prospecting Tools Overlap (and Which One to Drop)
Most teams pay for the same job twice. Here is where the 15 tools overlap, and which one to keep.
| Overlap | Tools | Keep | Drop |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two find tools | Apollo + Lusha, or Apollo + Instantly's database | Apollo | The second one, unless the reps need an extension |
| Find + enrich | Apollo + Clay | Apollo for lists, Clay only if someone builds waterfalls | Clay, if no one has opened it in 30 days |
| Two senders | Instantly + lemlist | lemlist if LinkedIn steps matter, Instantly if volume does | The other |
| Sender + enterprise platform | Instantly + Outreach | Outreach above 25 seats, Instantly below | The one that doesn't match the headcount |
| Sales Navigator + database | Sales Navigator + ZoomInfo | Depends on whether reps dial or message | Sales Navigator Advanced, if reps aren't using the team features |
The one overlap that almost never exists is two timing tools. Most stacks have zero. If you're cutting a $50 tool to add a $99 one, cut from the find or reach column and add to time.
What a Full Prospecting Stack Costs in 2026
Three team profiles, every tool at its annual rate where one exists, checked 8 October 2026. The point isn't the exact total. It's that the timing line is the cheapest one in every table, and the one most teams leave at zero.

Dana runs a ten-rep SDR team at a Chicago HR-tech company on Apollo Organization and Smartlead Pro. In 2025 the team sent about 1,400 emails a day across the ten and booked 38 meetings a month. In March 2026 she added a flat $99 signal layer, had each rep work only the contacts scored 80 or above, and the daily send count fell to about 450. Meetings in Q2 came in at 41. Same two tools, same ten reps, a third of the volume, and the deliverability problems that had started in January went away because the sending domains stopped looking like a spray.
Sales Prospecting Tools FAQ
What are the best sales prospecting tools in 2026?
Apollo for finding and sending under 20 seats, ZoomInfo or Cognism for direct dials on contract, Clay or Hunter for enrichment, Instantly or lemlist for sending under ten seats and Outreach above 25. For timing, Getcleed at $99 a month on LinkedIn, Leadfeeder for website visitors, UserGems for job changes at enterprise scale. The best sales prospecting tools are the ones that each fill a job you haven't already covered.
What is the difference between sales prospecting software and a CRM?
Prospecting software finds, enriches, times and reaches people who aren't in your pipeline yet. A CRM manages the ones who are. HubSpot and Pipedrive have prospecting tabs, but neither has a database, a signal layer or a deliverability stack, which is why they didn't make this list.
Are there free sales prospecting tools?
Yes, for finding and enriching. Apollo's free tier gives unlimited email addresses and 900 credits a year. Hunter gives 25 searches a month, Lusha 40 credits, Clay 100 credits and Leadfeeder Lite is free for visitor identification. No free tier covers sending at volume or person-level timing. Getcleed has a 7-day trial rather than a free plan.
Which B2B prospecting tools work best for LinkedIn?
Sales Navigator for finding, with Core at $119.99 a month. Getcleed for reading the signals on a Sales Navigator list. lemlist for sequences that include LinkedIn steps, with the caveat that automated LinkedIn actions carry restriction risk. The LinkedIn automation tools we rated score from 3 to 5 out of 5 on that risk, and the safest route is a scored list and hand-sent requests.
Do AI prospecting tools replace a database?
No. Every AI prospecting tool on this page either searches a database it owns (Apollo, ZoomInfo), browses for data (Clay) or reads activity on a list you supply (Getcleed, Common Room). The AI is the layer that interprets. The data still has to come from somewhere, and that is still the find job.
How many sales prospecting tools does a team need?
One per job, so four at most, and often three because Apollo covers find, enrich and reach for small teams. The common failure is two tools in the find column and none in the time column. The prospecting list guide covers the build order, and the metrics guide covers how to tell whether the stack is working.
The Bottom Line
- Sales prospecting tools do one of four jobs: find, enrich, time, reach. Buy one per job, and check which jobs you've already covered twice.
- Apollo covers three jobs from $49 a seat and is the right first tool for most teams under 20. ZoomInfo and Cognism earn their $32,000 to $33,500 contracts only when reps dial at volume.
- Enrichment is cheap. Hunter is $34 a month for unlimited users. Clay is more, and needs a builder.
- Sending runs from Instantly at $37.60 to Outreach at $100 to $160 a seat. Match it to headcount, not ambition.
- The timing job is the one most stacks leave at zero. It costs $99 a month on LinkedIn, EUR 79 for website visitors, or $30,000 and up for enterprise signal platforms. It's the line that moves reply rate, because it decides who gets the message in the first place.
Export the list your current tools built. Then run a free signal check on it and see which 5% showed a buying signal this week. That's the list to load into whichever sales prospecting tools you keep, and it's the one job none of the other 14 was built to do.
